Tree Festival Day at Heston Community Garden

We had a wonderful turnout of people and felt very supported in our locality aims of cleaning and greening. Residents and visitors from elsewhere were positive and helpful in greening up streets and parks to counteract climate change.

Throughout the festival we had interesting speakers from Heston Action Group talking about the West London Tree Hub updates and milestones. Greentalk eco-platform in Hounslow, it’s interactive app and data information. A representative from MindFood at Horsenden Farm, spoke about being outdoors and our well-being. Visitors could walk about the community garden and see the Fruit Forest we have established and tree nursery. All about trees was our speaker from Cultivate London and The Orchard Project who has been a great source of practical ideas for planting in the community garden since we began.

Martin presented Heston Community Garden with the most spectacular sundial, crafted by him ove the months. It is a work of art. Thank you so much.

There were table top activities provided by our supporters: olive wood name labels, Eva oils and potions, seed and plant swap. HAG merchandising , Heston in the Loop Repair Cafe reps, flexible plant pots making, Warren Farm clean up River Brent, Larger Can, C-Change, Scouts , Friends of River Crane-Let’s Go Out and Learn. We thank all of these volunteers for being at our festival and contributing a greater understanding of what we are all trying to achieve.

We are also very much indebted to the providers of : Ruby Marquees, Desi-Portaloo, food and drink provisions which were fantastic.

Our next event will be around end of summer, a cook up in Heston Community Garden.

Please remember this community garden is for everyone in Heston to become involved.

Open Sundays 10 am to midday.
